Oh Fox, How We Loathe You…

What is it with Fox? One day they claim "no one is watching this" and cancel a show off the air forever. Then the fans that were watching it (were their "watching" statistics wrong in the beginning?) roar up in an outcry and buy millions of the DVDs. Then before you know it they bring back this succesful show and it becomes one of the most viewed TV shows nowadays. They did it with Family Guy now they're doing it again with Futurama. Although this "works" (look how popular Family Guy is now), damnit, what the heck are you doing Fox?! In the same token they keep running horrible shows that no one watches while these other great ones only thrive on DVD sales. Fox… just seems really lack any common sense!
Now let's only hope that this "ideal" that Fox has also doesn't take part in the film industry. Instead of quality sequels or even first-runs being made, Fox runs horrible movies that shouldn't be. Fantastic Four 2 anyone? Come on, I went at midnight in New York City to the first one and there were about 20 people there in a 400-seat theatre - so why are they making a sequel?! And this may be just the beginning. Here, how about some more examples: Garfield 2, Alien vs Predator 2, Dr. Dolittle 2 & 3, etc. They just brood horrible sequels and continuations. And you can take this further: X-Men 3. Where's X-Men 4? Oh they claim that they don't need it because of the Wolverine and other spin-offs (and the falling apart of Singer's attachment). But given how succesful and (in my own opinion) awesome X-Men 3 was (and also those ever-so-important ending scenes), don't we need an X-Men 4? But no… it's Fox, they won't make it, don't worry. They'll just make Wolverine and Emma Frost. Let me also remind you, Fox has the Halo movie under their control, too.
I want to see what Fox can do that is actually good. Interesting enough, if they give the proper creative freedom to the right individuals, it rocks (Matt Groening, Seth McFarlane, Byan Singer for first X-Mens, Brett Ratner for X-Men 3, etc). But this is rare and mixed in with a whole bag of horrible productions. Fox has incredible power and a never-ending lust for money, yet how can they not work they way properly through decisions and actually make correct ones. It most likely all lies all within the individuals who run it and make these decisions and that is a further criticism on its own. Let's hope Fox can kick some creative ass with Wolverine, Halo, and whatever else they got up their sleeve.
