The Pirates Midnight Experience & Events
July 7, 2006
by Alex Billington
Part of our plans for this Pirates of the Caribbean 2 opening involved hosting a few contests and hyping up the crowds at the theatres to be ready for Pirates. We love going out and doing it and this was hands-down one of the greatest openings we've done. We went to all 3 theatres and did our 30 minute "shindig" and took some great photos of the awesome costumes that people wore and just the great fun that happened throughout all 3 theatres. Definitely check out these photos! Our contests included:
1) "Talk Like A Pirate" Contest
2) Pirates of the Caribbean Trivia Questions
3) Costume Contest w/ special guest judge manager Mr. White

Theatre #5 - 12:03 Showing
Although the theatre was smaller and still sold out, they had some amazing enthusiasm. Definitely a great crowd of people and some excellent costumes. Between all 3 theatres, the guys in this had the best "talk like a pirate" people.

Theatre #1 - 12:02 Showing
The second of the big theatres at the place - fully crowded to the max with many cheering fans. They even got to grab tons of Pirates posters from us when an entire half of the audience won some. This theatre was really hyped for Pirates, that is about the best I can say.

The guy in the middle (with the girls draping around him) won 1st place in this theatre's costume contest.
Theatre #17 - 12:01 Showing
Ahhh yes, we saved the best for last. Not only was the number of people dressed in costumes incredible (look at the photos) but the fans and people here were non-stop ecstatic. Their cheering was the loudest out of all 3 and it rattled through the entire movie theatre. Definitely check out this theatre's photos, as it was the best of the best!

Winner of this theatre's costume contest with Mr. White himself!
Thanks to Mr. White and everyone at Cinemark! Also thanks to all of you awesome fans out there seeing the midnight showing of Pirates! We definitely had an awesome experience and hope you all did, too. See you at the next movie! And definitely see you at At World's End!

Yeah vader definitely got more screams but I think the winner was the best choice! I'm glad Mr. White stepped in! What happpened to the birthdays and no pics of the trivia winners? You have a good start but there was so much more going on that wasn't covered.

It's been a while since my wife and I have been to a first showing. The last one was (I think) Batman in '89? Anyway, I wish you guys were around back then, even though we felt like chaperons (from time to time) the experience was fantastic.. Can't wait to do it again.. thanks for being there..
