Pirates: Dead Man's Chest Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide
September 7, 2006
by Alex Billington
Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest has finally crossed the $1 Billion worldwide earnings mark and has claimed its spot as one of only three movies ever to cross the mark (the others being Titanic and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King). This is quite an amazing feat and may foreshadow what is to come as 2007 nears (refer to Why 2007 Will Be A Great Year For Movies). If this movie, Pirates 2, can so "easily" cross the $1 Billion mark, how "easy" will it be for the big films like Shrek 3, Pirates 3 ("At Worlds End"), or Spider-Man 3 (coincidentally, all third iterations in trilogies) to cross the mark? We'll have to see next May…
