Spider-Man 3 NOT Actually Adding More Action Through Reshoots
September 22, 2006
by Alex Billington
Exactly a month ago (August 22), MTV reported from an interview with Spider-Man's Harry Osborn, James Franco, that he is doing reshoots for Spider-Man 3 adding more action per director Sam Raimi's request. Everyone on the entire internet jumped on it and even pushed the limits of the rumor, stating that after test screenings they needed to go back and do more reshoots. At one point it was debunked that no test screenings had ever happened, and everyone thought that was that.
But news has come from Franco himself that this was all just a bit of miscommunication and stretching of the truth. Cinescape caught up with him and he had this to say:
"Oh, there was some quote that was actually much ado about nothing in regard to some test screenings that never took place and there wasn't enough action in it," says Franco. "That was a lot of baloney. I think that I was asked, 'What are you going to be re-shooting?' and I think I said, 'Some actions.' It was just scenes that were already in it that we were only filling out a bit."
Way to go MTV for screwing up the actual question and answer. At least now we're saved and the real truth is out. Live on Spidey!
