Wes Craven's Got Another Horror Flick / Remaking Last House on the Left
September 28, 2006
by Alex Billington
Horror mastermind Wes Craven, of Scream and Nightmare on Elm Street "infamy," will be writing and directing a new horror film for release under Rogue Pictures. The movie is an original project he's working on surrounding the supernatural.
"It is rooted in the supernatural with a 16-year old central character, but it's more 'Sixth Sense' than a slasher film," Craven said about the film. "It's appalling to me that you have to go back to 1994 to find an original that I wrote and directed, so this is very important to me."
In addition, Craven has started a production company for low-budget (under $15 million) horror films, called Midnight Pictures. This company is also under Rogue Pictures, but will be operating via Craven and producer friend Marianne Maddalena. The first film slated for production under Midnight Pictures is a remake of Craven's 1972 The Last House on the Left. In addition, they're also considering remaking Craven's Shocker and People Under the Stairs. However, Craven's other new film (mentioned above) will not be made under Midnight Pictures. Sounds like some good news for fans of Craven and all things horror.
