David Arquette's The Tripper Finally Gets Distributor

November 14, 2006
by Alex Billington

We first heard about The Tripper back at Comic-Con, where director/writer David Arquette stopped by and gave one of the most ridiculously hilariously panels on his upcoming film. In the process of getting there he lost the tape of the footage he had and seemingly also smoked a joint, because the hilarity that ensued with him just rambling was quite crazy, but all fun at the same time. All that's past now and The Tripper has finally found a US distributor - After Dark Films.

Variety made the announcement that After Dark Films has picked it up for limited release in the first half of next year. They are only planning for a 200-500 theater release at this moment, but this should still be a worthy opening. It also stated that the film is supposed to have a few sneak peaks this weekend at the upcoming Horror Fest - 8 Films to Die For.

The Tripper is a horror film about a group of drugged-out hippie friends who head out to a weekend-long concert and end up being stalked by a deranged killer who wears a Ronald Reagan mask. Starring: Jamie King, Thomas Jane, Lukas Haas, Jason Mewes, Balthazar Getty and Paul Reubens.
