Eastwood's "Letters From Iwo Jima" Gets a Massive Release Bump - Now December 20!
November 16, 2006
by Alex Billington
Variety announced today that Warner Brothers has drastically pushed up the release date for Clint Eastwood's second Iwo Jima based offering this year, titled Letters From Iwo Jima, telling the Japanese side of the story. The opening date moved to December 20th of this year instead of February 9th, however only in New York and Los Angeles, and possibly San Francisco. The change was due to awards consideration for the upcoming Oscars and the buzz surrounding the film, which I think is odd, given that Flags of Our Fathers was really not that great. Let's hope this side of the story, starring the admirable Ken Watanabe, will be a much better film than Flags of Our Fathers.
