Fox Atomic Cans Revenge of the Nerds Completely
November 22, 2006
by Alex Billington
Variety reported that Fox Atomic has officially canned the remake of the 1984 comedy classic Revenge of the Nerds. They were already 2 weeks into filming and were recently told (a few weeks back) by Emory University in Atlanta that they were not allowed to film at that location as originally planned. In addition, Fox Atomic's Peter Rice has also apparently had negative reactions to the dailies being sent, saying that the film felt smaller than what he was hoping to release. All of this has lead them to officially shut the project down.
This is one of the first huge films from the new distributor Fox Atomic that has been canned completely. Fox Atomic seems like it's not off to a very good start. With this widely publicized mishap on a very hyped film, it's evident that there must be some major internal troubles. Fox Atomic does have Turistas coming out in just a few weeks, so we'll keep watch on the success of that film.
