Michel Gondry and Jack Black in "Be Kind Rewind" Coming in 2007
November 28, 2006
by Alex Billington
Michel Gondry's next film Be Kind Rewind has suddenly jumped to the top spot on my list for films to see in 2007 (right along side of Spider-Man 3 and 300). Given how astounded I was at Gondry's Science of Sleep from earlier this year, and how much I love Jack Black especially in Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny recently, teaming these two together is instant success. Rotten Tomatoes recently posted a brief interview with Jack Black where he talked about filming the movie. This little interview was what really got me interested, so I suggest you take a look.
Be Kind Rewind is about a video store clerk, played by Jack Black, who unintentionally erases all of the VHS tapes and has to remake them all, mostly 80's films, himself. That alone is hilarious enough, but just hear some of the titles he does: When We Were Kings, Superman, Ghostbusters, Robocop, Driving Miss Daisy, even King Kong, and plenty more. One that they didn't do was Back to the Future, because they couldn't secure the rights. After hearing all of this and what Jack Black had to say, I am more than excited for this movie. Be Kind Rewind is planned for a 2007 release from New Line Cinema, however not much more is known.
