Next for Little Miss Sunshine Directors: Abstinence Teacher
December 8, 2006
by Alex Billington
The husband and wife team behind the incredible independent comedy success Little Miss Sunshine from earlier this year, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, are working next on a film for Warner Independent. The film, titled The Abstinence Teacher, is about a woman who works as a sex-ed teacher in middle America whose values conflict with the conservative nature of the region. The film is based off of an upcoming novel from Tom Perotta. The Variety article states that Dayton and Faris are only in talks to direct it, as only the rights to the book were bought by the Warner Independent president. No further details on when to expect the film to get a release or even when production may begin, but nevertheless interesting news!
