James Cameron's New Project: Sanctum
by Alex Billington
October 13, 2006
Variety announced that legendary filmmaker James Cameron has signed with Rogue Pictures to co-write and produce a film called Sanctum. Sanctum is a dramatic thriller following the story of a father/son diving team who eventually encounter a life-threatening situation. It will be directed by Gary Johnstone (Expedition: Bismarck) and shown in 3D. The film is said to only cost $20 million and will begin shooting next Spring. I'm not sure if this seems more like a documentary, as that is mostly what Johnstone has done previously, however with Cameron's name on it, it sounds like it could be much more. Cameron is also working on his sci-fi epic Avatar for a 2008 release.
