Sundance 07 Day 7 Wrap-Up: Quieting Down…
January 26, 2007
by Alex Billington
One week in and it's getting awfully quiet here… I've heard from a lot of people that they're either going back tomorrow or Saturday. Hardly anyone is staying until Sunday (I am!) where I'll catch any big award winners that I've missed. And if The Good Life plays again, I'll go see that, again, because it was incredible. Sundance is starting to come to a close and I've got 22 films under my belt but still a few more to go. Although it's dwindling down, now is the time when we hear all the buzz about "oh what did you see that's good?" and start formulating my own "damn I need to see this" list.
An odd little happening tonight. I got out of The Ten screening and waited around for a bus to take me back around to the parking lot. Finally one shows up and I get on and I look at the guy sitting in the way back and think to myself "I've seen him…" I realize it's the director, Taika Waititi, of the quirky little New Zealand film Eagle vs Shark that Miramax is putting out. Sitting next to him is the star actress - Loren Horsley. She has a great accent, and mind you, I'm quite attracted to really cute accents. Anyway, I just thought it was interesting to note that even these guys ride the bus, too!
That's about all for today… Like I said, it's quieting down, so although Steven Spielberg was in Park City tonight, it's still pretty quiet.
COMING SOON: Up for tomorrow is at least: The Good Night, The Go-Getter, and Son of Rambow.
