Francis Ford Coppola's Directorial Comeback

February 14, 2007
by Alex Billington

Legendary director Francis Ford Coppola is making a comeback in the director's chair after nearly 10 years. Only he can say why, but some have speculated he's been watching his daughter's success or possibly just wanting to get in on the action again with some great scripts. On top of finishing up Youth Without Youth with Tim Roth, a pre-WWII drama about a professor, Coppola is taking on another new project called Tetro.

Tetro is an Argentine family saga that revolves around an artistic immigrant family marred by fierce rivalries, handed down through several generations. Coppola is not only producing and directing, but has also written the screenplay for the project. Matt Dillon, of Factotum recently, will be starring. Filming is planned in Buenos Aires late this year.

I'm quite excited to see what Coppola has in store for us after watching his daughter's career bloom as well. We've got two very interesting films he's directing and I'm looking forward to seeing both.
