On April 6th, will you be making your way to the Grindhouse?! Could you ask for a better combination of directors - Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. And the best part is that they've each made a full-length feature horror film that will both show together for the price of one! This is idea is ingenious and this film looks frickin' awesome. There's a new poster out (that you can check out after the jump) as well as the continuing hype that's building up for this bloody double feature.

Let's review the definition of Grindhouse again:

Grindhouse Definition

To elaborate, a grind house is a small theater with usually one screen popular "underground" a few years back that would show films that were so "indie" that the reels would be carried around to each theater (no extra prints were made). This means they'd get dirtier over time and sometimes reels would be missing or messed up. And then they showed crazy exploitation films that made for some entertaining experiences. This is the kind of experience that they're trying to mimic and "bring back to life". In Grindhouse there are two different films:

Planet Terror - directed by Rodriguez - a small-town sheriffs' department has to deal with an outbreak of murderous, infected people called "sickos" - a zombie movie. A gun-legged woman named Cherry (Rose McGowan) and her martial arts-wielding partner (Freddy Rodriguez) take on the zombie army.

Death Proof - directed by Tarantino - a psycho named Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) stalks and kills beautiful women with his car - a "slasher" flick.

In between the two films they're going to show fake trailers for other films that would be premiering at a grind house. They've brought on a slew of guest directors to make just the trailers, including:

Edgar Wright - trailer for a film called Don't
Eli Roth - trailer for a film called Thanksgiving
Rob Zombie - trailer for a film called Werewolf Women of the S.S. (photo)
Tarantino / Rodriguez - trailer for a film called Machete

On top of all that the film is going to be shown looking grainy and dirty, like the complete grind house experience. It's even been confirmed that they'll show up with missing reels and at random moments different at each theater the film will stop and say "missing reel."

Update: Although initial reports said it was random, the missing reels are a key feature for each film and are the same everywhere. It's a spoiler to say where or when, but you'll get a kick out of it.

What, Tarantino and Rodriguez have confirmed they will travel the world to show these additional reels? Or, are we once again, assuming that only the US matters?

The ads on TV caught my eye. Kurt Russell is a favorite of mine. The idea of two movies together for the price of one is a novel idea. The more for the money the better. I am looking forward to seeing this film arrangement.

I updated it above with a note. My point of writing that was that it would include missing reels in it in general. The gimmick is that they're "supposed" to be random, but they're designed for a certain plot part. You'll see, they're great.

Anyway, so I've fixed it, no need to be harsh. I got that from an original source anyway, it wasn't me who came up with the idea that they would be random, so don't blame me.

I was real disappointed. The movie was/movies were nothing great. Some run of the mill ordinary below average horror flicks that really in my opinion did not have a plot of any meaning? Dumb from the word go !!!!
