A Few More Tidbits on My Name is Bruce
February 20, 2007
by Alex Billington
This refresher on what is going to be one of the most badass films of 2007 comes from an interview on Comic Book Resources with Mark Verheiden, who also wrote My Name is Bruce starring the one-and-only Bruce Campbell (as himself). He provides just a few considerations, or at least press interpretations, of the film's opening, which won't be February but rather sometime later this year (likely after the summer). Cinema Fusion is also claiming (although it doesn't say in the interview) that it's going to get a wider release, and if anything I'm betting 800 screens max.
And here's the quick crash course from Verheiden on the plot.
It's called "My Name is Bruce," starring Bruce Campbell. It's a screwy comedy starring and directed by Bruce. He plays a stuck-up, forgotten B-horror movie actor who gets kidnapped and brought out to this small town of idiots who think he is the embodiment of "Ash" from the "Evil Dead" movies. They want him to kill a very real monster, and he thinks it's all an elaborate birthday gift arranged by his sleazy agent. It was produced by Dark Horse Indie, their lower-budget film division. We shot it in August and it should be coming out later this year.
For those who've missed, we posted a few of the first photos from the movie earlier. There's this movie, Michel Gondry's Be Kind Rewind and Richard Kelly's Southland Tales that are all up in the air for their release. They're all some of my own most highly anticipated for 2007, so I'll be following them all closely leading up to their theatrical opening (whenever it may be).
(And the photo above is NOT from the movie, it's from the Bruce Campbell Blog - check them out!)

This sounds like another genre-bending masterpeice. I even liked Bubba Hotep because of this man!
