I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK Getting US Premiere at SXSW Fest
February 22, 2007
by Alex Billington
There's been a film that's been often mentioned by the few international and niche film websites out there (like Twitch Film). It's the next feature directed by the same twisted mind that did Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and Oldboy. His name is Chan-wook Park and the movie is I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK. The movie is getting its first US premiere at the SXSW Film Festival as the closing feature on March 17th. (The rest of the films showing at SXSW can be found listed here.)
I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK is a twisted Korean romantic comedy about a girl who thinks she is a combat cyborg. She checks herself into a mental hospital where she encounters other psychotics and eventually falls for a man who thinks he can steal people's souls. Apparently the film didn't fare that well in Korea, but it may have a different effect on American audiences. If you want more info on the movie and the trailer, there is an English section of the official website - www.cyborg2006.co.kr.
