Oh Yes - May of 2008 Crammed Full of Blockbusters!

To some, this may be bad news, to others, this may get their levels of excitement fueled to the max. Last August I wrote a controversial article about Why 2007 Will Be A Great Year For Movies, and now I present to you a look at why 2008 may be as good as or even better than 2007 in one month alone. Sure, not all of these may be your "cup 'o tea" but they're still going to be pretty big blockbusters guaranteed. From Iron Man to Indiana Jones 4 and Speed Racer, here's the latest list of May 2008 releases.
Iron Man - May 2nd
The newest Marvel comic book adaptation starring Robert Downey Jr. as the billionaire Tony Stark and directed by Jon Favreau.
The Day the Earth Stood Still (Remake) - May 9th
No information on a director or even a plot, but the date is confirmed by Fox.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - May 16th
The sequel to 2005's The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, that's supposed to be even more epic and full of CGI than the last.
Indiana Jones 4 - May 22nd
Probably the single most highly anticipated film out of all of 2008, the classic hero Indiana Jones returns in a fourth sequel supposedly starring Shia LaBeouf and bringing back Harrison Ford to the big screen.
Speed Racer - May 23rd
The Wachowski Brothers are at it again, this time taking on this cartoon classic for a live action adaptation.
And even a rumor that Rambo IV (aka John Rambo) may be opening up in the same month, too.
This is all pretty damn far out, because we still have to go through this upcoming May: Spider-Man 3, 28 Weeks Later, Shrek 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. The suits at the studios obviously know May is the month to make the money, and it's always an exciting time to look forward to every year no matter what opens. In the meantime, we'll be getting you excited for this year's upcoming May…

Hey Alex -
I'm going to link over to your story from my site. I'm on board with most of those picks, but I simply cannot feign excitement for Indy IV. Twenty years is too long to wait for a sequel, especially one in a series that frankly doesn't have a lot of places to go (at least not with Harrison Ford). And introducing a kid? It's the Scrappy-Doo complex.
I can't believe waiting this long for the perfect script is going to generate great results. Oh, and George Lucas is involved. I've created more interesting voicemail greetings than Lucas's output since 1981.
So, my math on this, again, is Introduce a Kid + The Guy Who Thought Jake Lloyd Was a Great Idea = Why Bother?
Still, it'll make a load of money, which is great, if, as they say in Citizen Kane, "all you want is to make a lot of money."

The Indy4 movie sounds like a good idea if they paly up the generation gap. I am really excited about the Speed Racer movie. I hope they don't make it so bizarre and dark. Who's in the cast?

I am also really excited about the Speed Racer movie. But Indiana Jones for me is the perfect super hero. He has the appeal of Zorro and 007 mixed up with the straight of (almost) superman. Can I say he flies ?! He remind me MacGyver…well for me is the perfect super hero!
