Pursuit of Happyness Director's Immigrant Story: Man and Wife
March 6, 2007
by Alex Billington
I love these little tidbits about a director's next project, especially when it might be good. After the huge success of Will Smith's Oscar nominated The Pursuit of Happyness last Holiday season, the director Gabriele Muccino has lined up his next project titled Man and Wife, a love story about immigrants. Given Muccino himself is an Italian, this may be a perfect story to tell. The film will be set in Brooklyn and is to start filming this summer. Muccino found the film to have a special connection to today's current culture in the US:
"Diving into this culture is something I've enjoyed doing, but there is nothing more universal than love, and this is about how love can wake a man up like nothing else."
I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this one. Sounds like it may be a fairly strong drama, and we can never get enough of those, right?
