Ignore the Naysayers: 300's Opening Weekend Will Be Epic

That's right, you heard me: ignore the negative reviews, ignore the "fairly low" predictions, 300 is going to be epically massive this weekend! It's all been leading up to this, like a snowball tumbling down a massive mountain. Typically I never get too involved with box office earnings, but it's been nagging me more and more. People have been saying it won't be any bigger than a regular comic book opening weekend just like Sin City, but they're wrong.

And the worst of all, some reviews are coming out that are negative. Sure, everyone can have their own personal opinion, but the reviewers are being way too harsh. They're being too nit picky and too critical of certain elements that can just be enjoyed, especially when they're overshadowed by how brilliant and incredible the combat and story is in the end. Moral of the story: sit back, relax, and enjoy 300 - it's awesome, guaranteed!

Some may say my prediction is a bit off, but you have to consider everything going for this. Nothing else is opening up against 300, literally nothing major. Give or take a few indies and some theaters showing the completely un-advertised and un-marketed The Ultimate Gift. My prediction is that it will beat all R-rated opening day and opening weekend records. This means it has to get more than $37 million on Friday to beat The Matrix Reloaded, and more than $91 million over the weekend to again beat The Matrix Reloaded. It's probably going to be on 3000+ screens, and it's got everything going for it. It's NOT going to pull a Snakes on a Plane, I promise.

So that does it. I'll get back to you on Saturday or Sunday once the estimates are in and the results are official. No matter what, this weekend is all about 300 and I know it will be big. Ignore the reviews, they don't know what they're talking about, and focus on the great film you are all about to see.

I hope your prediction is just a joke. It might do $40 million for the weekend, but just for Friday? Are you serious? It wont happen, especially considering there are no big names in it.

Just because it doesn't have a big name, which in fact it does - Gerard Butler - doesn't mean it still can't do well. You are going to be surprised when it breaks these records.

i don not think that it is going to beat matrix's opening weekend gross. im predicting it'll make $25 million opening day and would gross $65-70 million for the weekend.

hahaha, my predictions were far greater than the so called "serious box-office analysits". i predicted that it was going make $25 million opening day(actual $28 million). and my prediction was $65-70 million opening weekend (actual $70 million). call me crazy but spiderman 3 will gross around $60 million opening day and $160 million opening weekend. that will basically shatter every single existing record.

man i dont even know what to say, my prediction of spiderman 3's opening gross was pretty close. just like my predictions of 300.
