300's Success Hopefully Bringing About Changes

Our fellow movie site CHUD has a great article up that I want to point out about what 300's $70 million opening weekend box office success will do in this industry. Whenever something huge comes around and completely fools everyone and becomes a money-making hit, the industry changes vastly (for the better, I'm not sure). With 300, it's going to bring about some possibly interesting changes in regards to comic book movies, March releases, budgets, and more.
I don't need to go over all of the points in the CHUD article, because I instead suggest you read it since Devin nails it dead on. I'm very interested to see both whether a 300 sequel will come about (I heard instead that Frank Miller is the one looking to write a sequel, not necessarily that Warner Brothers wants one), and how Watchmen will move forward, including what its budget may be. I'm most interested in Zack Snyder's continued success and future projects. There have been at least 3 or 4 mentioned, including Cobalt-60 and Sucker Punch. After meeting him and hearing about his persistence with 300, he sounds like a filmmaker that could bring about some very interesting development and changes in Hollywood anyway (especially with his wife as a producer).
However, a concern I have is that this is going to make studios overzealous and have them creating ridiculous 300-like rip offs, spoofs, and more crap that doesn't need to be made all in the pursuit of money. Hopefully this isn't going to become as big of an issue as I'm assuming. In the end, I think this is a very positive happening in Hollywood that will bring some better choices in the end. The entire comic book genre is becoming much more accepted as a similar source for adaptation as books and novels, and the genre is developing quite a bit in general anyway.
Let's hope for at least one thing though - that this success will mean more movies that are as good as if not better than 300!
