They're Already Spoofing Prestige and Illusionist - Magicians
March 12, 2007
by Alex Billington

British movie blog film ick has some new trailers posted for a British comedy spoof called Magicians. It's a spoof about a couple of dueling magicians, after the very well-received The Prestige and The Illusionist last year, and is directed by Andrew O'Connor (who's been a long-time comedy producer, but this is his first time directing). I'm amazed that this is already happening, but that's the film industry for you. And you know what, it looks pretty good. I guess the Brits know how to do spoof comedy well, unlike Hollywood!
Here's a direct link to the Quicktime trailer. Head back to film ick for other formats.

Your right, this doesn't look that bad, not as bad as Epic Movie or Date Movie anyways. That was really quick to come out though. They maybe could have taken a little longer to make it.

I don't really like spoofs. Only spoof-type movie I liked, that I can think of off the top of my head, were the Austin Powers movies. Anything else just seemed like a pathetic way to try and make money off a movie.

It isn't a spoof, strictly speaking, but just a comedy set in a similar milieu.

I was about to comment on how this was old news - then noticed the date. My bad…
Anyway, they were hyping The Magicians pretty heavily last May while we were visiting. The two guys are a team who, among other things, play the Brit Versions of PC & Mac in the Mac ads
