A Speed Racer Lead is Cast!

Or is this just another early rumor? Although Variety is claiming that Emile Hirsch is in final talks to play Speed Racer in The Wachowski Brothers' film shooting this summer, it's not entirely set in stone. Not that it's likely to change, but just weeks ago the web was claiming Zac Efron instead. If you're curious, Hirsch just starred in Alpha Dog in January as well as Lords of Dogtown and The Girl Next Door. He's a pretty solid actor that could do great as Speed. No matter who they cast, I'm excited and I'll be there opening day.
