Screenwriter Details on Steven Spielberg's Interstellar

March 23, 2007
Source: Variety
by Alex Billington

An exciting project that I had never heard of until now, Interstellar, which is to be directed by Steven Spielberg (presumably after he finishes Indiana Jones IV) has just picked up a writer. The film is a dramatic space adventure that revolves around explorers who travel through a worm hole and into another dimension - sound interesting now? Thought so.

Jonah Nolan, also known as Jonathan and the brother of Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan, has been brought on by Paramount to write the script. He's becoming a hot commodity in Hollywood today, also writing The Dark Knight and previously The Prestige, both directed by his brother.

The plot of Interstellar was initially founded by a scientific theory by Kip S. Thorne, a Caltech physicist and expert on relativity. His theory that wormholes exist and can be used for time travel intrigued Spielberg, who attended a Caltech workshop on the subject with Thorne and other scientists. Interstellar won't likely be made for quite a few years, as Spielberg not only has Indy IV but a few other projects in the works that are supposed to be finished before he takes on this. However, if you're as big of a science fiction fan as I, then this news is pretty dang exciting.

Why doesn't he just make another Doctor Who film?

This is very good news. Primarily because I am doing tentitive work with Spielberg's media partner and co-creating on this TV series/Documentary that may ensue or become a prelude of this Intersteller project. Google Joe Starr and Steven Spielberg and I do appear on the front page of google images with the man himself (for proof).

Correction. I am NOT on the google images front page with Steven anymore. I was there for the longest. But I am still on the front page with William Shatner (it's the Diamond accented graphic with a Beverly Hill biz speaking of Joe Starr 4 Entertainment - my company). Anyway - this is a terriffic story on Intersteller. I am sooooo excited to be a part of the overall scheme of things anyway.

I would say… Make a film- that in a fun and interesting way makes people interested by
heart in maths, science, even in the most thrilled way teaches them the most important
sciences there is. I would name the project the life under zero. And then you get actors
that can sell knowledge. Do this to a on-line game. And then we can make a on line world
with collage and universities in various topics. Short the teaching period by having people
that can sell knowledge much better than in the old world. I love Stevens movies - but
in the reflection of the new possibilities there is with computing and the need to have
kids away from the street, we need a powerful tool that can give what a traditional
class can“t do today.
