Steven Soderbergh's Delectable Follow Up to Bubble
March 26, 2007
by Alex Billington
One of my own all-time favorite directors Steven Soderbergh wants to follow up his rather unsuccessful attempt at simultaneous releasing, Bubble, with another film. This time it's going to be about super high-end call girls, or rather strippers and prostitutes, who make up to $2000 an hour at their job. The news has been making its way around the internet, compliments of The Big Picture, supported by big followers of Soderbergh like myself.
I never even saw Bubble, so like Soderbergh said, I thought it was a terrible test of what a day-and-date DVD and theatrical release would do. A release has to be really appealing to test that at its full capacity, which this movie he's working on may become. Besides this follow up, Soderbergh has Ocean's Thirteen due out this June 8th as well as a couple of Che Guevara films in pre-production.

Like you, I'm a huge Soderbergh fan… although repeatedly heartbroken lately by a string of misfires that began with Bubble.
Bubble was pretty much crap as far as what a movie should be. Boring, boring, boring, with little in the way of visual consequence. Not once could I figure out why it had to be made. The cast of unknowns and non-actors was actually okay, but even as an experiment the film fell flat on every level.
