Mike Myers Returning as The Love Guru

In early January we ran an article on the hopeful return of Mike Myers, who's been missing from anything good since he last did The Cat in the Hat in 2003, or rather Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2001. The latest news is that Paramount has picked up his newest project called The Love Guru where Myers will star as his own character creation known as Pitka, which is Myers in makeup, a white wig and a yogi's long flowing beard.
They've set Marco Schnabel to direct, who's worked with Myers quite a bit previously as a protégé of Austin Powers director Jay Roach and the second unit director on Austin Powers in Goldmember. The character Pitka is an eccentric Indian guru with advice for all who is called in to solve a couple's romantic troubles. The character has apparently been under "testing" via his live comedy routines and is being tweaked so that he's ready for the full-on big screen debut.
At first thought, this sounds a bit alarming. However if you think a bit deeper, this may be the same kind of character that he brought out with Austin Powers, and original creation, and he may yet again baffle and amaze us. We'll see soon enough.
