Exclusive: Spider-Man 3 Running Time and Expected Theater Bookings

March 30, 2007
by Alex Billington

I just got back from chatting with a good friend of mine who manages a cineplex theater. We spoke a lot about some plans for Spider-Man 3, including something big still in the works, but I also heard some details about Spider-Man 3's opening.

The first is that the film's running time is tentatively set at 2 hours and 20 minutes, which was what he was told to consider when scheduling the times for the day. The second is that he's going to be running 7 screens for the midnights and on opening day, the most I've ever seen his theater run in the 10 years it has been open. This means that we'll see probably the largest screen count ever, topping Shrek 2's total of 4,163 on opening weekend. Be weary, the runtime is not 100% confirmed and I'm listing it as a rumor (since IMDb lists 2 hours and 36 minutes instead), but the screen count is confirmed.
