Christina Ricci Cast as Trixie - Speed Racer's Good Guys All Cast
April 13, 2007
by Alex Billington
That big G-rated movie coming out next summer, Speed Racer, is getting endless amounts of press very early on, and it might just be because The Wachowski Brothers are the ones creating it. So far, I think it deserves it, as it's one I'm a very much looking forward to, despite we hardly know anything in terms of the actual production. The very latest is that Black Snake Moan star Christina Ricci (shown to the left) has been cast as Speed's loyal and courageous girlfriend Trixie. This now completes the cast of leads on the "good guys" side, specifically all of Speed's family.
As announced previously, Speed is being played by Emile Hirsch, and his parents will be played by John Goodman and Susan Sarandon. The only major missing character is Racer X, Speed's arch-rival, and we can only assume that casting announcement is going to be pretty big, too.
They are really turning this into the HUGE hit of next summer. What other studio puts out interviews with each celebrity the moment after they're cast on YouTube - no one does that! Even the official website, www.speedracerthemovie.com, points to the latest one with Ricci. Given this is the next follow up for The Wachowski Brothers (they didn't actually direct V for Vendetta), they've got a lot riding on it, especially being G-rated family flick.
