Dracula Getting a Sequel: The Un-Dead?!

Before anyone jumps the gun, this is all just a rumor more than anything else, and we don't want a big fiasco like with the Hulk. However, a scoop at BlackFilm.com reveals that they're already got a director and a cast set for the sequel to Dracula titled The Un-Dead that's being made. This whole cast sounds like a bit too sweet of a deal and the director seems like an odd choice, so take all of it with a grain of salt. However the idea of a sequel might be an interesting film.
It was confirmed already last year by Variety that The Un-Dead was being made, this rumor that comes today is simply announcing the director, Ernest Dickerson (Bulletproof, Blind Faith), and cast: Javier Bardem will play Dracula, Monica Bellucci will play Lucy, and John Hurt will play Professor Van Helsing. Does this seem a little too good to be true?
In this sequel set 25 years after the original Bram Stoker novel, it features all the surviving protagonists, including Jonathan and Mina Harker and Professor Van Helsing, along with Inspector Cotford, a character cut from the original manuscript. The Stoker family has officially recognized the screenplay, the first adaptation to receive such approval since the original 1931 film. With everything that is known out, I'll end with a question: is there anyone who's excited for another Dracula movie and thinks this sounds like it could turn out good?

Don't forget, Ernest has directed some Tales from the Crypt episodes (and one of the movies), so he's pretty accustomed to the horror genre. Unfortunately, remakes of "vintage" horror films should be kept far, far away from contemporary horror directors. The best Dracula adaptation, IMHO, is Coppolla's vision - dark, moody, and unrelying on cheap gore or shock effects. Assuming this rumor is true, I don't think Ernest will be able to churn out a Dracula movie that is unique in style or tone from what Dark Castle puts out, with or without approval from the Stoker estate.
What would be cool is if someone approached a Dracula update with a film noir attitude - maybe David Fincher ala Seven, or Curtis Hanson with LA Confidential in mind.
