Luke Goss Talks His Character in Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy 2

If there's one film I'm looking forward to more than others in 2008, it's Hellboy 2: The Golden Army from Guillermo del Toro. I'm pretty much alone on this, but the first Hellboy is one of my all-time favorite comic book movies ever. Given that, Luke Goss, who's already been confirmed to star as the lead villain, provided this quote recently:
"I play 'The Prince' and in simplistic terminology he's the nemesis," he elaborates. "The great thing about him is he's not trying to take over the world, he's a rounded character that's not just driven by greed and I think people are going to enjoy the depth Guillermo brings to him."
If that didn't get your spine tingling just a little bit, than I don't know what will (probably some other comic book movie news). To hear him talk about "the depth Guillermo brings to him" gives me a real warm, fuzzy feeling about this sequel.
After his immense success with Pan's Labyrinth, I suggest everyone go take a second look at the original Hellboy. Guillermo is still running off of Pan's Labyrinth going into Hellboy 2 and that means only good things. It doesn't matter if you really liked the first one or not, after Pan's, Guillermo will pull off nothing less than excellence.
The quote above comes from ShockTillYouDrop.com, where Goss (seen to the right) spoke briefly while promoting a movie he's in that's debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival called Unearthed. He added a bit more fuel to the fire from the chat:
"From Guillermo's script, without giving it away, let's just say I'm a big fan of internal pain and anguish. All of these things elicit a truthful direction rather than just [fueled by] greed or ego. This character, The Prince, his father's the King so…" Goss gets dangerously ahead of himself. "It's just a bloody great role. Visually, it's stunning."
I really can't wait! Although we're just now heading into one hell of a summer this year, 2008 is already looking just as incredible. As always, we'll keep you updated on everything interesting and important in relation to Hellboy 2: The Golden Army as it leads to its August 1st, 2008 release date.
