Mike Myers to Make More Austin Powers - Dr. Evil to Star
May 7, 2007

How many of you actually really enjoyed the third Austin Powers (titled Goldmember)? I personally love the second one the most, but the whole series is classic, rare for a complete trilogy. But a more important question, despite essentially being the villain, who couldn't love Dr. Evil?! He's become the second most recognized character from the Austin Powers movies, and now he's going to get his own film, or so we hope. Mike Myers spoke recently in promotion of Shrek 3, and mentioned briefly the possibility of an Austin Powers 4.
At Rotten Tomatoes, when asked about a possible return to Austin Powers in the future, here's what Myers had to say.
"There is one that we have an idea about. The only thing I will say is that it's entirely from Dr. Evil's point of view. It would be the first of his trilogy."
When asked if a trilogy might be too daunting of a task, Myers replied, "That was a joke. I just love the bluster of saying that it's a trilogy. Yes, it's a twenty-five part series. No it's not. I'm just joking."
I'm not sure with the way he answered to take the entire statement about a fourth movie with Dr. Evil seriously at all, or whether he just meant the trilogy. We don't want another debacle like with Avi Arad and the Hulk being grey, so let's leave this one as a rumor until some real confirmation comes around.
Myers did also go on to confirm that The Love Guru would be his next movie and that it would start filming in August, as we've talked about before here. I'm open to a fourth Austin Powers, as I really think Mike Myers is one of the only original comedic actors and filmmakers in Hollywood these days, and he could pull something great off.

[…] I’m not a huge Austin Powers fan. I know, I’m in the minority. But the one character I always got a huge kick out of was Dr. Evil. He was a perfect parody of all the great super-villains of all time. In my opinion, he was the reason why the Austin Powers trilogy was so successful. Now word comes in from our friends at FirstShowing that a fourth Austin Powers may be in the works, and it may focus completely on Dr. Evil! […]

[…] Okay, so I honestly have no idea what the next Austin Powers movie will be called but according to Firstshowing, they are in talks to do a fourth installment in the hugely successful series. 'There is one that we have an idea about. The only thing I will say is that it's entirely from Dr. Evil's point of view. It would be the first of his trilogy,' revealed star Mike Myers. 'That was a joke. I just love the bluster of saying that it's a trilogy. Yes, it's a twenty-five part series. No it's not. I'm just joking.' […]

yeah i saw leno the other night when mike was on and he said he normally has a 3 year turn around on films and that hes constantly asked about waynes world 3 and austin powers 4 and all he did is give that classic smirk of his that says "i know something, yet im not telling" and when jay leno caught the smirk he tried to press the issue but mike defused the situation with a joke and changed the suject just like lorne michaels taught him with his days in SNL.
so i doubt we've seen the last of wayne and garth or austin and dr evil….. not by a long shot! mike just wants to take his time and come up with some brilliant ideas and work them over… more power to him

I enjoyed the Shrek series the best. I would like to see him do something new. He is very creative. I would prefer that these characters not get hissed off the stage, but go out with a good chuckle.
