"The Ruins" releases March 7th, 2008.
And I would completely agree about the book being very over-rated.

I actually enjoyed my reading of The Ruins in that Scott Smith did make the motivations of the characters seem realistic to me. The key thing that was the source of all their troubles was definitely silly though, making the book seem less prestigious and more like a glorified pulp novel. I hate to be ragging on the film while knowing so little about it, but I think people are going to be frustrated when they hear what the danger at the ruins is and the studio will have to market hard so people don't catch on too fast. Think of earlier this year when "Primeval" came out and they said it was about a famous serial killer. I told some buddies it was only an alligator and they thought it was the most ridiculous thing.

thanks for the spoiler on Bug- if you think it's going to be a spoiler- edit it out! I want to see it- I had no idea, I didn't think you'd actually blow it- even if it is a little plot point that means nothing to the whole. Even if you think it sucks- come on! I don't want to try and skip forward with my hands over my ears trying to avoid it. There are guys like me that go the film not knowing dick- except maybe one little ad or trailer- William Friedkin's come back- that's all it takes for me to go see it.
is the bug up my ass real or psychological?
