Jack Black Putting Together Renaissance Festival Based Film - Ye Olde Times

Jack Black, one of the funniest guys around today, is working on yet another project, not as the lead, but as the narrator in a film about Renaissance Festivals. Titled Ye Olde Times, the film is being called a romantic comedy about a pair of romantically entwined actors who are each from a different rival medieval Ren Fest. Each of these shows is fighting for supremacy, and I'm sure it gets a little out of hand when its discovered these two are in love. Jack Black will play Professor Shockworthy, a character like School Of Rock's Dewey Finn, who tutors the two. Also set to star is Tim Robbins, Will Arnett and Cary Elwes.

The film will begin production in September in California, so we won't see it until sometime next year. It will be directed by first-timer Rob A. White, but as we've seen is the case sometimes, first time directors can easily pull off great comedies. The budget is only around $10 million, but that should be enough to make sure they make an awesome film. The two leads aren't cast yet either, so there's still quite a bit of work to do. The producer Michael Mendelsohn said about the movie, "it's funny and it's worldly and it has some insightful things to say about young love."

If you don't live in a state that has yearly Renaissance Festivals or just can't embrace their surrealistic nature, then it'll be hard to get excited for this. However, if you're like me and have been to a Ren Fest every year for most of your life, then I know you'll have a big grin across your face by the time you're done reading this.
