The Buzz Report: May 25th - Pirates of the Caribbean Midnights
May 25, 2007
by Alex Billington

Another Buzz Report, which looks at the hype and buzz from real people themselves. What better way to test the buzz than by going to the movie theaters and gauging reactions when certain trailers roll. Only FirstShowing.net brings you this connection between the viewers and Hollywood. This is the most realistic and resourceful method of determining which movies have the most buzz, and which will do well in the upcoming summer months, so pay attention!
We continue the series this week with the crowd of the midnight shows of Pirates of the Caribbean!
This Week's Biggest Buzz Winner:
Transformers
The reaction to this trailer was tremendous. The crowds cheered at the start, at the first appearance of Optimus Prime (and his transformation), and loudest at the end. The momentum is really building for this, and with the new trailer that kicks some solid ass, it is really putting the cap on what may be the surprise biggest hit and biggest money-maker. I say surprise, because everyone (in Hollywood) doesn't expect it to do well, but I know it's just got incredible buzz building for it.
Trailer Reports:
Live Free or Die Hard
The first trailer to show and it had plenty of cheers and applause at the end all through out. Another awesome trailer meant the crowd had their jaws dropped and cheering with excitement at all of the awesome scenes it showed. This one was a close tie with Transformers, but during the midnight shows it was Transformers that truly took the crowd and had the loudest cheers. Die Hard 4 is going to be another massive hit this summer, guaranteed, despite a PG-13 rating.
Ocean's Thirteen
Showing another great trailer, this one surprised me by having lots of commotion and a couple of cheers. I thought no one was interested in this, but the girls love all the "hot" male actors in it and beyond that it's got some funny parts in it. It looks good, and the audience recognized that, so in an interesting turn of events, this movie gets mention in the buzz report for a progressive level of growing buzz and reactions during the trailer. Keep watch for this one, it may turn out bigger than you think.
Tune in again soon for another Buzz Report from FirstShowing.net!

I just got back from Pirates and I'm a little upset cause my theater chose not to show the trailer for Transformers… I was wanting to see their reactions.
