Jackson Says Halo Movie Might Have 'Renewed Interest' Due to Halo 3

The Halo 3 Beta is in full force right now (in fact, I just watched some friends play it all night last night), which means the Halo fever is picking back up, at least for a few weeks. When the beta ends in just a few weeks it'll die off and then slowly build again to the September 25th release date. In case you might've forgotten, most of late last year was wrapped up in the development of the Halo movie with Peter Jackson producing on the backend. Then in October it came to a screeching halt - the studios dropped financing - the project was dead in the water.
However, not all hope is lost, as Peter Jackson is still pushing for it. The return of the Halo 3 hype has Jackson believing that the studios may get interested again when the game hits shelves in September. I can only imagine they may take an interest when Halo 3 sells more copies than any game in history.
This update doesn't have an exact time stamp, so it may be a few months old, but at least it's something new since last October. In an interview with Jackson over at Stuff.co.nz, he updated it with a bit of reassurance that it still could happen at some point in the future.
Jackson said he expected renewed interest from Hollywood studios 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures to have Halo made as the Halo 3 video game will be released later this year.
He and partner Fran Walsh would be involved again in Halo only if Blomkamp is the director. "We wouldn't want to do it with anybody else. It'll be Neill's call."
I know all the fans, which are going to be growing ten-fold because of Halo 3, would still love to see a Halo movie. As Jackson stated last year as well, he wants Neill Blomkamp, a first time director, to direct the film and no one else. I guess that's the only trouble with the studios, but once one of them finally agrees, they're going to be sitting on a pile of money about as big as the Halo video game franchise itself.

I'm so pumped for this movie, and I LOVE the way Jackson is pushing for Neill Blomkamp, I loved the style behind his short films.
Why isn't Microsoft footing the bill for this movie, one would assume that to be a no-brainer.

You would think that all the money they make it wouldn't be a problem to make the movie but I guess there are other cercumstances to consider that we don't see, but I can't wait until the movie finally comes out.
