I, Robot Sequel Script Already Written

I'm sure I'm not alone here, but I thoroughly enjoyed I, Robot with Will Smith from 2004. It wasn't perfect, but it was a fun flick that now has a permanent spot in my DVD collection. As with any big-budget film in Hollywood these days, a sequel typically will be greenlit by studio execs after it performs well at the box office and is deemed a success. As with I, Robot, I would've never seen a sequel coming, largely because the story ends fairly well and it's based on a novel by Isaac Asimov that isn't part of a series. However Fox thinks otherwise (and we all know how that's turned out recently).
Collider.com talked with "Battlestar Galactica" producer Ronald D. Moore recently and discovered that he is writing a sequel to I, Robot that will hopefully go into production with a full feature budget.
Although Moore wouldn't speak at all to Collider about the story or any details, he did hint that it would be a bigger budget film and not just a direct-to-DVD sequel. Per a bit of information from SlashFilm, the director of the first I, Robot, Alex Proyas, said on the DVD that if there was a sequel, it would take place in outer space. He said it would be "a big space movie, with interplanetary action." That description doesn't sound very feasible as a sequel to an Isaac Asimov story, but it could just be the desire of Proyas and not what Moore has cooked up in his script.

I'm afraid you're mistaken. I, Robot isn't a Novel by Isaac Asimov, its a collection of Asimov's shorts stories around the concept of the three laws of Robotics. The shorts contained in I, Robot and those that didn't make that collection go off in many different directions. Will Smiths flick was only loosely based on the collection. Any potential Sequel has as much scope for divergence as the first. Personally, I'd like to see a great number of robots, maybe Alien. Hey wouldn't it be cool if they could hide, say like a car, a helicopter, or a truck? Nah, that would be silly. ;o)

I wouldnt mind seeing a sequel to I robot. I read something about maybe in a number 2 that spooner would become less human and the robot more human. Im not sure how much Azimov most people have read but if you have looked at a few different books including the last of the foundation series you will find a reocuring name of Daniel or something like that as a robot who has lived though a huge range of things. I think it would be a great idea to try and tie that in to a sequel as the original free thinking robot being daniel since the scale of influence that he has in Azimovs other novels.

In addition to I, Robot being a collection of short stories there is several detective (spooner) novels with robots and Asimov's Foundation series also has a robot in it. Really, the three laws and robots dominated much of Asimov's sci-fi writing so it is entirely plausible for a sequel.
Also, Dr. Calvin was a central figure in several of the I, Robot short stories.
