Izzard, Van Houten, and Branagh All in Bryan Singer's Valkyrie

I thought with another new casting announcement I'd throw all these together into one post so they're not pointless as individual posts. From Variety today, it was announced that Eddie Izzard (Ocean's Thirteen) has now joined the stellar-looking cast of Bryan Singer's WWII film Valkyrie. He joins the already amazing line up of Tom Cruise, Bill Nighy, Patrick Wilson, Stephen Fry, and Tom Wilkinson. In addition to Izzard, Kenneth Branagh (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) and Carice van Houten (Black Book) have both been announced recently as well. Maybe it's just me, but this is one hell of an ensemble Singer is building.
The film tells the story of real-life Nazi officer Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg who, along with several other German generals, carried out the famous assassination attempt on Hitler in July 1944. The film is based off of actual events in history. Tom Cruise is currently set to star as von Stauffenberg, and the film is being produced and distributed by Cruise's company - United Artists.
I think Singer's got another smash hit on his hands, especially with the Hollywood trend of returning to WWII coming up in 2008. We'll keep you updated as we follow this film closely.

IS Patrick Wilson still doing this film? He just started shooting "Lakeview Terrace" with Samuel L. Jackson this week in Los Angeles and is supposed to begin "Watchmen" in September in Vancouver.
