How many of you liked Disturbia? Despite it was aimed at somewhat younger audiences, director D.J. Caruso's new vision of what essentially was the Rear Window universe was certainly intriguing. Following on the heels of Transformers coming in a week and filming Indiana Jones IV, actor Shia LaBeouf has also been cast in another thriller to be directed by D.J. Caruso titled Eagle Eye, putting the two together again.
Shia will play a young slacker whose overachieving twin brother has died mysteriously. When the young man returns home, both he and a single mother find they have been framed as terrorists. Forced to become members of a cell that has plans to carry out a political assassination, they must work together to extricate themselves. Dan McDermott wrote the script based on an original idea by Steven Spielberg, which will begin shooting in the fall.
Given how much I enjoyed Disturbia myself, I'd say this combination of director-actor may be perfect. Shia has a great persona that he's really developing in great movies, and I've come to appreciate D.J. Caruso's style even more.
