Laurence Fishburne Writing and Directing The Alchemist

Everyone's favorite Morpheus, Laurence Fishburne, will be trying his hand at writing and directing yet again. His first feature was a film in 2000 called Once in the Life, which I don't know anyone has seen. Next, Fishburne will be taking on an adaptation of Paulo Coelho's adventure novel The Alchemist. Fishburne has already written the screenplay will also direct, but isn't going to star.
The story centers on a young Spaniard who embarks on a quest to find a hidden treasure within the Egyptian pyramids. Since its debut in 1988, the novel has sold more than 40 million copies in over 150 countries.
I'm curious to find someone who has seen Once in a Life and can tell us if he's any good at writing and directing. I'll tell you, I love everything he does, even his little role in Bobby was brilliant. And the novel sounds quite entertaining, so this could be promising. No word on a filming schedule yet.

It's cool that Fishburne will be adapting Paulo Coelho's classic.
But for those that are interested in what's going on in the life of he author: check out the experimental witch's contest in his blog. In this project, Coelho asks his readers to adapt his new book The Witch of Portobello.
Quite thought provoking!

There is an up-and-coming Latino Hollywood actor (SAG member) who is ideally suited for the lead role in The Alchemist. He is MARIO E. CALDERON, JR. I urge those involved in Fishburne's project to take a look at this rising talent! Mario has the Spanish/Moroccan look and is a gifted actor.
