Teaser Trailer for Steve Carell's Get Smart Released
July 10, 2007
by Alex Billington
I guess I'm a bit young, but Get Smart is originally based on a 1960's TV show of the same name. It reminds me a bit of Austin Powers, but with Steve Carell taking on the role of Agent 86, named Maxwell Smart, in another big secret agent comedy. This is being pushed as a really big film for next year, so definitely check out this teaser and see if it will be all that it's cracked up to be.
Watch the teaser trailer for Get Smart:
Get Smart is directed by Peter Segal, who also directed Tommy Boy, Anger Management and The Longest Yard. It also stars Anne Hathaway, Alan Arkin, Terence Stamp and Dwayne Johnson. It's set to hit theaters on June 20, 2008.

This looks to be almost spot on in spirit to the original Get Smart. I just hope that they have Barbara Feldon in a cameo along with any other surviving cast members.

HHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I CAN'T FREAKING WAIT!!!!!!!!!! When Steve Carell is given the freedom to use his whole body to act he hits a homerun every time. I am interested to see if Anne Hathaway can continue to break away from her teeny bopper image. She reminds me of Jennifer Connelly after she made Labyrinth. And of course Dwayne Johnson…What can you say about this man and the improbable journey he continues to make away from sports entertainment.
I'll see you at the concession stand…

"Reminds me of Austin Powers" … LOL. Try it the other way around — there probably would not BE an Austin Powers were it not for both James Bond and Get Smart. I saw the preview for this today in the theatre, and it does indeed bring back some memories. I'm not a huge Carell fan, but I know everyone else in the world thinks he's wonderful, so that's a great box office draw. Anne Hathaway is always worth a look in. Alan Arkin as the Chief … super idea. And I'll plunk down my money for Dwayne Johnson in pretty much anything (well, Doom pretty well sucked, but you can't win 'em all). Now I wanna know … who plays Siegfried???
Save some of the popcorn at that concession stand for me, S~!

I could watch Dwayne Johnson read the phone book. So, as far as I'm concerned, it's a winner already!

I will see this one. It is going to be funny and cool. I loved the TV series, when it aired originally not the re-runs. I enjoyed this trailer…I feel a movie marathon coming on… The anticipation is killing me.
