Crank Creators Adapting Jonah Hex Next

With the 3:10 to Yuma poster making its debut and plenty more westerns in the work, it's without a doubt that one of the few western comics out there would soon be adapted, too. First up is DC Comics' Western anti-hero comic book Jonah Hex, which is getting fit for the big screen by filmmakers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the same two who wrote and directed last year's Crank with Jason Statham. No confirmation on whether Neveldine and Taylor will be directing just yet, but so far it sounds like they're writing and maybe producing, just like on the upcoming film Pathology that will hit theaters later this year.
Jonah Hex, known for having the right side of his face disfigured and wearing a Confederate army uniform, was a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood. The comic book first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of "All-Star Western" before getting its own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years.
The filmmakers are not making a straight-ahead Western but plan to develop the character with some of the supernatural overtones in the hopes of creating a franchise. Sounds like an interesting choice and definitely something to watch out for. I'm always curious what Neveldine and Taylor have up their sleeves ever since being taken on the ride that is Crank last year.
