Worth Watching - Aug 4: John August's The Nines

Those of you who followed my Sundance Film Festival coverage may recall I gave The Nines a lowly 4/10. As time has gone by and I've spoken at length with a friend who saw it well, I'm starting to wonder whether that was accurate or just my mood and response at that very time. However, it is undeniable that this film is one of the most interesting you may ever see and certainly very eye-opening. Anyone who appreciates cinema should definitely check out this trailer and do their best to find a showing of it once it hits theaters.
Another note: this film is definitely not as scary or thrilling as they're making it out to be in the trailer. It is purely a drama, not at all a horror or thriller, so don't be alarmed by the way the trailer plays it off.
Watch the trailer for John August's The Nines:
The Nines is both written and directed by John August. August is a very vocal and well known screenwriter (Go, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and this is his first directorial effort. The film is currently planned to hit limited theatres on August 31st with expansions coming later.
