Fido's Andrew Currie Directing Space Invader Next

We've been following filmmaker Andrew Currie ever since his zombie comedy Fido debuted at Sundance. His next project has been secured, and it's another comedy at Fox Atomic called Space Invader. The film will star Will Arnett in a high concept comedy about astronauts that sounds like it's loosely based on the real life murderous NASA love triangle that made headlines back in early February.
The film centers on Doug Huggins (Arnett), the son of a NASA legend, who is terrified of flying. When Huggins learns that his girlfriend, a rising aeronautic star, has been chosen to fly to the International Space Station with Stamp, a spaceman who is God's gift to space travel, he must overcome his fears and travel to space to win her back. Given this plot description, I really can't wait to see who they cast as Stamp!
The script was written by Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger, both small-time television writers who have worked together on shows like "Just Shoot Me!" Lisbe also worked as an assistant to the writers on "Futurama" for a number of episodes. If this is anything like the humor in "Futurama", then I'm sold.
We'll try and chat with Andrew Currie in the next few days to get an idea of what we can expect. Currie's directing style always brings something unique to the film as well as the fact that he focuses on attention to detail. Hopefully with Space Invader he'll hit the same brilliant comedic note as he did with Fido. Good luck Andrew!

Whatever happened to "Fido" anyway? Great movie, but did it come and go with a whimper?

Fido came to Denver for one night only. Courtesy of Alex.
He knows the director and got him to bring us the movie for a single showing a few weeks back.
It was advertised on the site.
Was a great film.

It opened in Canada a few months before and had a fairly large released for a Canadian film. Can't speak for the US release…
