Justin Timberlake Joins Mike Myers' The Love Guru

Haven't heard about The Love Guru with Mike Myers yet? Don't worry, you won't be seeing it until next summer, but this news may spark the interest of a few readers. Everyone's favorite singer-actor Justin Timberlake has joined the cast as a professional hockey player alongside of the previously announced Jessica Alba, Romany Malco and Verne Troyer. Myers and crew are putting together quite an impressive cast, and I'm sure The Love Guru will make quite a big impact next summer.
We originally mentioned the character back in late March when discussing Myers' upcoming films. The Love Guru features Pitka, who is one of Myers' own characters he created for a live comedy show and now feels he's honed it enough to be ready for a big screen adaptation. I am guessing they're shooting for another Austin Powers money-maker trilogy.
In the film, Pitka (Myers) is an American who was left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. He moves back to the US to seek fame and fortune in the world of self-help and spirituality. His unorthodox methods are put to the test when he must settle a rift between Toronto Maple Leafs star hockey player Darren Roanoke (Malco) and his estranged wife. After the split, Roanoke's wife starts dating LA Kings star Jacques Grande (Timberlake) out of revenge, sending her husband into a major professional skid — to the horror of the teams' owner Jane Bullard (Alba) and Coach Cherkov (Troyer). Pitka must return the couple to marital nirvana and get Roanoke back on his game so the team can break the 40-year-old "Bullard Curse" and win the Stanley Cup.
The Love Guru is directed by Marco Schnabel, who was the second unit director on Austin Powers: Goldmember and Meet the Parents. Paramount currently has the film set to open June 20th next summer.
