Jesse Eisenberg Cast in Greg Mottola's Adventureland

Raise your (virtual) hand if you've seen The Squid and the Whale. That's what I thought - none of you! It was one of 2005's best indie movies and featured the talented young 23-year-old actor Jesse Eisenberg. You probably haven't heard of him because he tends to stay away from the big blockbusters and works with very new or very odd directors. However he's just joined Greg Mottola's Adventureland that we mentioned a mere three days ago as the next film from the director of Superbad.
MTV spoke with Eisenberg recently who confirmed that he is the lead in Adventureland as well as commented on the tone of the film.
"I play a lot of directors' awkward stages in their lives," he observed with a smile.
"It's based on Greg Mottola and it's about him getting a job at this theme park. It's his life after college," Eisenberg explained and added that the comedy won't be nearly as broad as "Superbad." "It's probably closer [in tone] to 'The Daytrippers,'" Eisenberg said, recalling an earlier Mottola effort.
The Daytrippers is a Greg Mottola comedy from 1996, but unfortunately I haven't seen it and can't comment on its tone. Although I can say that this won't have the same high school feeling as Superbad did.
I am truly excited to see this project coming together. Combining my love for Superbad and in essence Mottola with my appreciation for one of the better unknown young comedic actors can only mean a true classic is in the works. I'm already excited for this one and it hasn't even started filming yet!

I saw The Squid and the Whale. Don't be so presumptious. And WOW do you love Superbad. There's like 15 stories that mention Superbad in it here. Why didn't Knocked Up get this kind of red carpet?

I really had a hard time liking his character in The Squid and the Whale. He was just so dang pretentious.
