First Trailer for Stephen King's The Mist

After 1408 I'm not sure just having Stephen King's name attached to a movie means anything. His writing may be great but they can easily butcher it when converting it to the big screen. With The Mist, I can't yet tell if this will be that good, but it is Frank Darabont - he directed both The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption. If The Mist is as good of an adaptation of Stephen King as The Green Mile, then I'm all for it. But right now this trailer looks like a mess of terrible acting and a boat load of yelling religious kooks trapped in a grocery store.
The music in this is a selection of various tracks from Clint Mansell's The Fountain soundtrack - one of the best soundtracks of last year!

Alex, you're kidding… you didn't like "1408"?
I thought it was very effective and really enjoyed it.

First THE FOG, now, THE MIST. What's next? HIGH POLLEN COUNT?
By the way, what do you have against 1408? Cusack gives a great performance.

I agree with you Alex, this trailer hasn't sold me. The best thing about it was the music. It doesn't look that good. I'm getting worried now.
1408 was an okay movie. Nothing special.

I loved the book, and I'm tired of Stephen King movies being made into poor rendition of the original. I hope it lives up.

Yeah, my first thought when the trailer started was "Fog remake," and then towards the end "Christian bashing," but I did like seeing Thomas Jane in there.

In case anyone didn't know, King also wrote The Shawshank Redemption

I don't know you know. I really enjoyed the original book and if anyone can do Stephen King novels any justice then it's Frank Darabont.
I personally love the whole 'surrounded and trapped' scenarios though I am worried that the bible basher will just plain annoy me. I know that it's all meant to be about personal struggle etc but those kind of people in all the apocalyptic tales (whether book or film) just bug the shit out of me and end up pulling me out of the film for my very dislike of them.
Case in point being the guy in the basement from Night of the Living dead.

This was originaly turned into a dramatic reading with a whole cast made specificly for headphones. It was really well done and creepy. When I saw this trailer I got super excited.

lol. this story is from a book from like a good 10 15 years ago, its nothing like the fog. no pirates, and according to the trailer, it looks pretty accurate to source material. i look forward to it..

the mist was an awesome story. read it a couple times. the bible thumpin lady in the book annoyed me like this broad. so it looks to be accurate. hope it will be sweet.

SK's short stories are awesome.. specially this one.. looks an exellant job done cos SK's are the most difficult to produce as a movie. hope it's exact as the story itself.

Great - thanks Steven King. I used to like your stuff but I've had it with the "Psycho Christian" characters. Count me out - I won't waste my money.

Funny. all the people quickly jump on the christian in this. Funny those same people were the ones who during 911 helped bring prey and church attendance way up. It amazes me how if some one is a believer they are a nut, but hey yeh for the killer, self centered , hateful people.
