Denzel Washington and Tony Scott Remaking Pelham 1 2 3

You may remember late last year a film title Deja Vu with Denzel Washington. Following that up, Denzel is teaming up with director Tony Scott (The Last Boy Scout, Enemy of the State, Domino) for the fourth time after Deja Vu. The film is a remake of The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, which was a 1974 movie that starred Walter Matthau as a cop who must stop a hijacked subway car. The original film is referenced in pop culture quite a bit and is also one that Quentin Tarantino has apparently "borrowed" ideas from.
The script for the remake is being written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible). Not many more details have been revealed except that this is aiming to be filmed before the strike next summer. The other three films Denzel and Tony Scott have worked together on are Crimson Tide, Man on Fire, and Deja Vu.
Honestly, Tony Scott seems far less effective at using Denzel to his absolute best capacity than his brother Ridley or other more capable directors. Despite that, this sounds like it good be good and I'm a sucker for good modern remakes of great thriller classics.

I watched the original not too long ago. It was good, but not great. This remake could definitely work better with Denzel and Tony Scott involved (and a hot screenplay).
