TMB's Money Saving Tips for Movie Fans

Browsing around my favorite movie sites today I got a good chuckle and a smile out of an article I came across. Titled 10 Common Sense Money Saving Tips For Movie Fans written by John Campea of The Movie Blog, it goes over exactly what it says - 10 ways to save money on all things from going to the movies to concessions. Although I really don't condone all of these (especially numbers 8 or 9), John makes some dead-on perfect suggestions for saving money. Considering I'm a huge DVD fiend myself (it's a guilty pleasure), this is a perfect list and I'll suggest it to all of our readers too, because I want you to spend your money wisely as well!
Numbers 1 ("Eat before going to the theater"), 2 ("Choose your theater wisely") and 4 ("Celebrate Matinees") are definite keys to success in saving money. I can't suggest them enough and if you put just a little bit of time and effort into thinking through your theater choices, you'll be saving a lot. On top of that, I also agree with number 6, "Consult The Movie Blog or RottenTomatoes", to a degree. More often than not you'll disagree with critics and especially with the Rotten Tomatoes score. You can definitely save yourself from seeing absolute crap, but there may be that little romantic gem that you want to see personally or just something that caught your eye. If you want to save money, you can avoid it, but don't get too caught up in what critics have to say.
On the contrary, I've got to completely disagree with numbers 8 ("Buy Previously Viewed") and 9 ("Wait For It On DVD"). I think you may know why, but there's really no way to get around it! First off, I absolutely hate previously viewed DVDs, but that's a personal preference. Secondly, go see it in theaters! If you wait for DVD the cost is even more. I will agree the per-viewing price is more at the theater ($10 ticket versus $5 to rent once), but renting a movie on DVD that you really want to see is only going to hurt the experience. You will definitely get your money's worth if you see it in theaters - from the picture and sound quality alone! That is, as long as you follow number 6 and know that what you're seeing isn't crap.
Honestly, John really does have some great tips and of course the more money you save, the more money you can then spend again later on seeing more movies in theaters! I've heard countless times that people don't go to the movies because they don't have money. It's not that it's too expensive, because we've all gotten used to the ticket prices, it's just at that cost they don't have $10 to shell out every time they want to see a movie. So if you use these tips and save more, then maybe you'll end up seeing more! How about that for a tricky equation?

Why dont you like previously viewed dvd's?
I will often go into a rental place to rent one and end up buying like 4 movies.
They come in a case and are usually in great condition.
