Joe Carnahan Wants You to Read His Scripts and Help Him Choose

This has got to be one of the most odd stories coming from Hollywood in a while. Filmmaker Joe Carnahan, who wrote and directed Smokin' Aces earlier this year, has two films in the works: White Jazz and Killing Pablo. He was going to direct White Jazz first, but recently lost two of his primary actors: Chris Pine, who will instead play Captain Kirk in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, and George Clooney to scheduling conflicts. Now Carnahan has announced publicly on his blog that he wants your help in choosing which film he should direct first and he's even gone as far as to post the scripts for each one!
White Jazz is a crime thriller set in the 1950s Los Angeles about a vice cop named Dave Klein who sets out to expose a decades-old network of corruption engineered by the LAPD. Killing Pablo is the story of how the U.S. Army Intelligence and Delta Force commandos helped Colombian police track down and kill Pablo Escobar. Both films are based off of very high profile books.
If you want to drop by and leave your opinion on the matter, then do so at his blog: SmokinJoeCarnahan.com. He's pretty crazy to do this and to ask for your opinion on top of posting the scripts for each of the films, but that's what makes Smokin' Joe Carnahan such a unique filmmaker. He actually wants the interaction of the general public and fans.
The scripts, which were removed at the request of the studios, are still linked via SlashFilm and available for download. Get 'em while you can, because I'm sure they're going to be completely removed before long!
White Jazz - 9/16/07 Draft (128 Pages)
Killing Pablo - 6/22/07 Draft (168 Pages)
Don't forget to let him know what you think if you grab either of these scripts! Personally, I'm not worried that having these scripts out is going to hurt either films. Honestly, how many people are really going to download these and spend the time reading through them. In the end, this will probably help the films build awareness and even build some hype.
