Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart Being Reimagined Under Ridley and Tony Scott

Brothers and well-known filmmakers Ridley and Tony Scott's production company Scott Free Productions will produce Tell-Tale, a modern-day reimagining of the Edgar Allan Poe classic "The Tell-Tale Heart". The film is written by Dave Callaham (Doom) and will be directed by Michael Cuesta, who has primarily worked as the director on a number of episodes of "Six Feet Under" and "Dexter". Both Ridley and Tony will produce and have a hand in developing the film.
Tell-Tale is described as "a psychological thriller that sets Poe's haunting tale against the backdrop of modern science" with a tone that is a cross between Jacob's Ladder and Marathon Man. The budget is only $20 million and it will begin shooting in early 2008. Casting is currently underway.
This seems incredibly interesting, even moreso given how low of a budget it has. I would expect a high concept like this to get a budget of at least $50 million+, but thankfully $20 million sounds like the perfect lil' amount. However, can such a well-known classic like "The Tell-Tale Heart" really be reimagined without being butchered? Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out and if it will be creepier than I remember or not.
