James Marsden and Josh Zuckerman Star in Sex Drive

After the immense success of the teenaged sex comedy Superbad, Hollywood is trying to recreate that success with some other freshly imagined sex comedies. One that seems to have an edge is a new one in the works titled Sex Drive. It stars (from L to R in the photo above) James Marsden, Josh Zuckerman, and Amanda Crew. If the title isn't enough to capture your interest, then the plot will. It's about a guy who has an online relationship with a girl who sends him the message "U Drive All the Way Here 4 Me … I'll Go All the Way With U" and in turn he decides to drive from Chicago to Knoxville.
Zuckerman will play the guy who is going after the girl, while Amanda Crew is one of his friends, not the girl. While promoting his upcoming movie Enchanted (which I highly suggest), James Marsden spoke briefly about the film and his character.
"My younger brother, actually, has this online relationship with this girl and he misinterprets what she writes to him, so he thinks she's saying if you drive to where I am I'll have sex with you. And I play his older brother who's kind of a redneck, drives a classic car, and makes fun of him - if you remember Weird Science, like Bill Paxton's role Chet."
He explains that it's a comedy "in the vein of Superbad." It pretty much sounds like a combination of Superbad, Road Trip, Lars and the Real Girl, and some other wacky teenage comedies. Call me optimistic, but find me a movie James Marsden has starred in that is really bad! Even Hairspray and Superman Returns are great. Sugar & Spice is maybe the exception, but that was back in 2001. Since then he's been in great films and he's a great actor who knows what he's getting into.
Sex Drive is written by both Sean Anders (Never Been Thawed) and John Morris (Never Been Thawed, She's Out of My League) and directed by Sean Anders. I really hope this is a break out comedy like Superbad. That one snuck up out of nowhere. I was expecting it to be a dull, terrible PG-13 comedy but it definitely was not. Either Sex Drive will be as good as that or we've got another time-waster in the works.

I bet the message was an error and it's actually "I'll go all the way BACK with you." I'm calling it now.
